In this new war against the wyrms, Riders alone are not enough to defend and triumph in battle. Due to its extreme struggle, Tale has developed a series of other jobs necessary to maintain the functionality of their forces. There are also other jobs throughout the world that your character may take part of.
If there are any suggestions as to jobs not on the list, post them in this thread and they'll be reviewed for application.
Rider - Three years ago, after the defeat of the first wyrm, this new job became extremely popular among man. Humans learned not to fight the dragons and, instead, side with them in order to defeat a much greater threat. Riders, as the word implies, ride on their dragon's backs, guiding them across the skies, being the second pair of eyes the dragon needs in order to be sharper and smarter during flight. Riders are requested and constantly trained as they are in great demand.
Blacksmith - Although the blacksmiths have long existed before the dragons, they've undergone great changes ever since the possibility to ride dragons rose. In Tale, the smiths are known for being extremely talented and inventive, forging equipment which will enable the Rider to fly the dragon at its full potential without being harmed by it. Blacksmiths are strong in brawns and brains alike. They must have sharp minds in order to concoct all sorts of designs with which to ride a dragon. Blacksmiths also learn to use their dragon's fire in order to better forge equipment.
Vets - Specialists in caring for dragons' health, these men and women are dedicated in their job although are usually opposing to physical combat. They aid not only with the healing of dragons, but also with nursing young drakelings and eggs as well. Usually, they have caring dragons as their parteners. It isn't unusual to see them using a Horrible Nightmare either as these have curative properties which have been discovered only recently.
Mailer - Riding on the quickest dragons known to man, their job is to take news to other villages and, occasionally run tasks such as searching for reinforcements. They are familiar with the routes of travel and have exceptionally sharp eye sight and directional skills. When these are partenered with stronger dragons, they may also trade supplies between villages.
Dragonologist - An ancient job which has always been of deep importance. Usually, the study of dragons was conducted in order to better define how to slay the beasts. Now, the dragonologists' researches are useful from anything such as behavioral studies, training studies, and even medical studies. Oddly enough, this is a danger job and a dragonologist requires the company of powerful dragons as he will often be studying wild or enemy dragons, even attempting to infiltrate a wyrm's lair.
Farmer/Fisher - All armies need food for their forces. However, Tale has no available land or work force with which to keep track of cattle and fishing. Thankfully, that is one of Berk's many specialties. As Berk is a peaceful land with plenty sea fish and available cattle land; they take care of providing the supplies and then trade the goods with Tale in return for the accomplishment of small bills, specialized equipment, and the occasional wild dragon. Fishers and Farmers are very calm and hard-working folk, usually keeping their dragons for security purposes. Some are very fond of Timber Jacks as the dragon may easily clear land necessary for pasture.
Cooks/Nutritionists - Capable of cooking large meals without compromising its quality, cooks are essentially the heart of an army. Suffice it to say, a well fed army is a battle ready army. Cooks also require another ability. Dragon diets don't match human diets. More over, different dragon species require different nutritional needs. For that reason, cooks are often well trained in dragon care and are capable of creating specific meals for young dragons, sickly dragons, and even the most exotic dragons. Cooks are usually found in the nurseries, infirmaries, 'stables', or the recently constructed kitchen not very far from Tale's War Tent.
